We have a huge “HEART FOR MISSIONS”!
God tells us “_…..that ye shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. “ Acts 1:8
God brings each of us into the path of many people outside of the church through our jobs, our neighborhoods, our friends, our families, and therefore provides us with our own “Mission Field” to be a testimony so that others might see “JESUS” through us and want to come to know Him.
Our church is currently obeying God’s word in serving in our “Jerusalem”, which is Fort Gibson, with a number of local events such as; a Block Party, Vacation Bible School, sponsoring booths at community events, supporting the local food pantry, providing a Nursing Home Ministry, and an ESL-English Second Language Class.
We also serve in our “Judea”, within Oklahoma, by taking children and youth every summer to Falls Creek Youth Camp and Kiamichi Baptist Kids Camp. The adult men assist with home repairs for those in need. Several of our women volunteer at the local Pregnancy Resource Center and support their community in various service projects.
First Baptist Church, Fort Gibson is also serving in our “Samaria”, the United States, by joining with OCOEE Outreach on an annual Mission Trip to Cleveland, Tennessee where we assist in building handicap ramps and making general home improvements while also ministering to peoples spiritual needs with Bible studies and prayer.
And finally, our church body is obeying God’s word by serving the “Uttermost part of the earth”, foreign missions, by going on mission trips to places like Ukraine with Bobby Smith Evangelism Association, the United Kingdom and Europe with iGo Global, sending bibles to Mexico which are distributed in orphanages and schools, and also providing prayer and financial support to Compel Outreach International, which spreads the gospel throughout the world under the leadership of Bill Britt.
